The new interim president of Fresno City College is a familiar face: Cynthia Azari, the school’s former president who left in 2011 to take the presidential post at Riverside City College, was named Fresno City’s temporary leader on Tuesday.
State Center Community College District trustees selected Azari to take over leadership duties following the untimely and unexpected death of President Tony Cantú in April. He was 64.
Azari will begin her new duties on May 28. She’ll earn a $15,430 monthly salary plus a $1,500 monthly living stipend.
She most recently worked as interim chancellor at Riverside Community College District, a role she served in for eight months before retiring.
