Three separate accidents snarled traffic Friday along Willow Avenue in Clovis.
The first happened at 10:40 a.m. north of Escalon Avenue. A 22-year-old Fresno man lost control of his 2004 four-door Honda, jumped the curb, broke through an irrigation district chain link fence and rolled the car, which came to rest on the roof, Clovis police said.
Officers had to break the windows and cut the seat belt to get the victim out. The man, who had difficulty breathing, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The posted speed limit along that stretch of Willow is 50 mph, police said. The Collision Reconstruction Unit will determine how fast he was driving.
Never miss a local story.
A four-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Shaw and Willow avenues.
A silver Ford extended cab pickup was eastbound on Shaw when it collided with a Chevy Tahoe traveling north. The impact sent the Ford into westbound traffic on the Clovis side of Shaw.
A Chevy pickup and a Ford Taurus were also hit, police said. The injuries were minor and did not require medical attention.
The third accident happened south of Shaw Avenue, just north of the historic Helm Ranch sign. A driver was hit from behind by a car that was then rear-ended by a third vehicle. No injuries were reported.
