University High took home the Small School title at the 2015 Academic Decathlon over the weekend in Sacramento, earning 50,163.5 out of 66,000 possible points. The school, which is located on Fresno State’s campus, will be eligible to compete in the United States Academic Decathlon Online National Competition in April.
Edison High School, also of Fresno, led Division II schools with 48,703.8 points. The state competition is divided into three divisions based on regional scores. Division I is comprised of the 20 highest scoring teams. Divisions II and III are comprised of the next top 20 highest scoring teams, and the next top 26 highest scoring teams, respectively.
Bullard High took top honors among Division III teams in the Super Quiz, the culminating event of the competition and the only one that’s open to the public.
Academic Decathlon teams are comprised of three honor students (3.75 and above GPA), three scholastic students (3.00-3.74 GPA), and three varsity students (2.99 GPA and below).
