Fresno State will host its 31st annual Conference on Character and Civic Education at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the Fresno Convention Center.
The conference will include a keynote address from Eduardo Briceno of Mindset Works, a company that trains middle and high school teachers to improve student engagement. An additional general session and 30 breakout sessions for teachers and prospective teachers will follow the address.
The conference will also feature an awards ceremony for 19 local schools with exemplary character education programs.
Valley middle schools being honored are Abraham Lincoln of Selma; John F. Kennedy Jr. of Hanford; Sutter of Fowler; Washington Academic of Sanger and Mulcahy of Tulare, and the following Fresno middle schools: Kings Canyon, Scandinavian, Sequoia, Tehipite and Wawona in Fresno Unified, and El Capitan, Glacier, Point and Rio Vista from Central Unified.
The following Valley high schools will be honored: Central, Fowler, Sanger, Tulare Union, Academy for Civic and Entrepreneurial Leadership of Fresno and University High of Fresno.
