Central Unified Superintendent Mike Berg and 10 local businesses were honored on Wednesday for their commitment to Fresno County schools.
The honorees received awards at Fresno Compact’s annual business-education partnership luncheon.
Berg received the Dr. Harold Haak Award, named in honor of the late Fresno State president. Berg was recognized for several partnerships he’s fostered, including building relationships with technology companies to launch a school tablet program and working with the Bonner Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club. Berg, who has served as superintendent since 2009, has announced his intention to retire at the end of 2015.
The businesses honored include: Artworkz, Cultural Arts Rotary Club of Fresno, Fowler Physical Therapy, Good Company Players, Guadalajara Restaurant, Milano Restaurants, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Premier Studios of California, The Rotary Club of Selma and Ultimate Staffing Services.
