Fourth-graders at Easterby Elementary School in southeast Fresno got a special visit Thursday.
Kaiser Permanente Fresno pediatrician Dr. Casey Gray and Fresno Unified Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Rosario Sanchez joined the class in reading and discussing “Have You Filled Your Bucket Today?” in an effort to promote kindness and literacy.
“Have You Filled Your Bucket Today?” is a popular children’s book designed to get students thinking about their own thoughts and feelings and those of others and make students more aware of how their choices can make a difference.
This is the fifth year Kaiser Permanente has partnered with a local school district to promote reading as an essential part of a child’s healthy development as part of its national Reach Out and Read Program. Reach Out and Read is designed to promote early literacy, school readiness, and positive outcomes for all children.
