2 Clovis middle schools join list of model schools

Two Clovis schools have been designated as California's Schools to Watch - Taking Center Stage model middle schools for 2014.

Clovis Unified's Alta Sierra and Kastner intermediate schools were chosen after a rigorous review process to identify high-performing, high-impact intermediate schools to serve as models of real-world success. This is the third time the two schools have received this designation, which lasts three years. Since 2008 every middle school in Clovis Unified has been chosen at least once.

Only 59 schools have been identified statewide since the program began in 2003. Other local schools outside of Clovis that have earned the recognition include: Granite Ridge Intermediate School in Fresno in 2012; Washington Academic Middle School in Sanger in 2011; Fairmont School in Sanger in 2013; Quail Lake Environmental Charter School in Sanger in 2013; and Sanger Academy Charter School in 2013.
