The Rowell Soccer Club has filed a complaint with the Fresno Unified School District against Rowell Elementary School's principal, saying that she has unfairly denied the group access to the school's fields for practice.
The club had been using the fields for more than 20 years, according to club president Julia Quintero. On Aug. 11, however, a security guard asked the children to leave the fields during practice, she said.
The club was told that the school had not approved the club's contract to use the field because of construction at the school, Quintero said. But she maintains that Principal Anarita Howell should have approved the contract.
Fresno Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Bedi said the school is undergoing modernization. The district will not know more about the situation until the complaint against Howell is investigated, she said.
