Fresno Unified School District is seeking public input to help develop academic calendars for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years.
The calendar survey is available on the district's Web site at www.fresno.k12.ca.us.
There are eight questions, including one that asks participants to rank preferences for the first day of school. Choices for start of school include the third week in August, the fourth week in August or after Labor Day.
Other questions center on how long Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks should last.
Never miss a local story.
Answers will help the district develop two drafts of academic calendars that will later be posted online. The calendar proposals will be discussed at meetings with district advisory committees and union representatives.
Informational meetings to discuss the calendars will also be held throughout the district.
The new survey format -- designed to solicit broader public input -- is new since the district disbanded its 10-year-old calendar committee.
