Some high school animators in Clovis may be ready to give animators at Pixar a run for their money.
Buchanan High School's robotics team earned a first place animation award over the weekend at the FIRST Robotics world championships in Atlanta.
The team animated video short, "A Little Bird Told Me," earned the top award for animation among more than 300 teams participating in the animation category.
The video discusses how the FIRST Robotics competitions evolved from inventor Dean Kamen, who founded For Inspiration and Recognition of Science Technology in 1989 to inspire students in engineering and technology.
Never miss a local story.
FIRST officials told Paul Lake, one of the team's coaches, the video was "the best student animation they have seen."
