Up to $200,000 for science- and technology-related classroom projects is available for Fresno County county schools through a program offered by Chevron.
The projects fall under a category known as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Through Nov. 3, teachers at Fresno County public schools can post their projects (or project ideas) to DonorsChoose.org. This month, when people in the area put eight gallons or more into their vehicles at a participating Texaco or Chevron station, Chevron will donate $1 (and will continue to do so up to $200,000) to the posted Fresno County projects.
The donations cover materials and supplies for the projects, which, without tools such as DonorsChoose and Chevron’s Fuel Your School program, often are paid for out the teacher’s pocket.
About 80 projects from Fresno County schools have been submitted to DonorsChoose so far.
