Scripps National Spelling Bee champ Ananya Vinay, a sixth-grader from Fresno, added another stop to her victory tour Monday when she was honored at the state capitol in Sacramento.
Assemblymembers presented the 12-year-old with a resolution on Monday afternoon said Assemblyman Jim Patterson, R-Fresno.
Ananya also visited the Senate and was honored by Sen. Tom Berryhill.
Since winning the Scripps National Spelling Bee on June 1 in Washington D.C., Ananya has been traveling around the country. Among her many opportunities, she’s rung the bell at the New York Stock Exchange, made appearances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Live! with Kelly and Ryan,” watched the Golden State Warriors up close, and met the prime minister of India.
