A man was killed Monday after an alleged drunken driver smashed into his family’s SUV in southeast Fresno.
Police Lt. Mindy Casto said about 6:15 p.m., a minivan driving north on First Street went through a stop sign and slammed into an SUV traveling south on Hazelwood Boulevard.
Casto said the SUV was carrying a family of four, including the male passenger who died after life-saving efforts at Community Regional Medical Center.
The victim was identified Tuesday as David Joseph Herrera, 60, of Fresno.
Two children in the back of the SUV and the man’s wife, who was the driver, were all OK.
Fresno County Jail records indicate the minivan driver is Pedro Serrano Lopez, 58. He was booked early Tuesday on charges including manslaughter and driving under the influence.
