A Pixley man was booked on charges of felony driving under the influence Saturday night after two people sustained major injuries in a crash in Earlimart, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened just after 8:15 p.m. on State Street near Center Avenue. The CHP said that Oswaldo Chavez, 43, was northbound on State in a 2003 Jeep north of Center when he reared-ended a parked Honda, hit a red GMC SUV and hit five pedestrians, all of Tipton. Silvia Padilla, 58, and Maria Muro, 30, sustained the major injuries. Sixto Morales, 42, and a 5-year-old boy sustained less serious injuries, as did an unidentified fifth person.
