A man in his 40s took more than $200 in cash on Friday from a central Fresno thrift store, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the Disabled American Veterans Thrift Store near McKinley Avenue and Mayfair Drive regarding an armed robbery, Lt. Joe Gomez said.
Police were told the suspect entered the business and acted as if he wanted to buy a T-shirt, Gomez said. He approached the counter, pointed a small handgun toward the cashier and said he wanted all of the money from the cash register.
The suspect took the cash and the cash register tray, Gomez said. He left the store and walked north toward a newer model, 2005-10 Jeep SUV and drove away in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as being a Hispanic man, with a medium olive complexion, medium build and 5-feet-4 to 5-feet-7 in height, with short black hair and a goatee, Gomez said. The suspect was wearing either gray or blue jean pants, a long-sleeved black T-shirt that was faded and a black baseball cap. The suspect was also wearing dark sunglasses.
