Three juveniles, one 16 and two 15, were arrested early Wednesday following a carjacking at a fast food restaurant at Clinton and Marks avenues west of Highway 99, Fresno police reported.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the crime took place just before 11 p.m. Two women were in a car outside a Jack in the Box when they were approached by the suspects, who asked to borrow a lighter before ordering the victims out of the car. One of the suspects feigned having a weapon in his waistband and demanded the victims’ cellphones. The suspects then fled in the car.
About 1:17 a.m., officers saw the vehicle near Ashlan and Blythe avenues. The police helicopter followed the car to Highway 99 and Stanislaus Street, where officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects sped into southwest Fresno, then got out of the car and ran.
They were arrested a short time later and booked on charges of carjacking and felony evasion.
