Police said they’re investigating a report of gunfire Sunday evening at Quigley Park in central Fresno.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at the park just east of Dakota and West avenues around 7:48 p.m. after earlier reports said a woman was brandishing a handgun at the park, Lt. Ron Hughes said. Numerous shell casings were found at the park, but there weren’t any victims.
A witness was able to give a partial plate number to a black Chevrolet Tahoe that belonged to someone who lived on the 1800 block of West Buckingham Way, just east of Ashlan and Dakota avenues, Hughes said. Officers talked to two men at the house, including one who was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with an unknown head injury. The man was conscious and breathing, but it wasn’t immediately clear if he had been hit in the head with a bullet, fragment or another type of projectile.
The homeowner was cooperative and allowed officers and detectives to search the house, Hughes said. Officers are searching for a white Tahoe that could possibly be connected to the shooting, and anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to call police at 559-621-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP (7867).
