Fresno police Wednesday afternoon seized 21 rifles and shotguns from a man who threatened a neighbor with a military rifle after a dispute at a mobile home park near Fowler and Dakota avenues.
Sgt. Walter Boston said officers were called to a disturbance in the 3500 block of North Duke Avenue, where a woman reported that after an argument, her neighbor came out of his mobile home and pointed the rifle at her. As officers sped to the neighborhood, the woman reported that the man, identified as Ted Johnson, 46, was sitting on his front porch holding the rifle, a loaded, .30-06 caliber M-1 Garand. Officers ordered the occupants of the home to step outside and Johnson rolled out in a motorized wheelchair. Officers next found four children, ranging from 2 to 8 years old inside the home, along with the rifles, which police reported were scattered about the mobile home and accessible to the children.
Johnson was booked on charges of brandishing a firearm and criminal storage of firearms.
