A Tulare County judge on Wednesday sentenced Jonah Jay Teal, 35, of Torrance, to three years in prison for stealing copper wire from a ranch near Terra Bella.
Last month, Teal pleaded guilty to grand theft, felony vandalism and misdemeanor vandalism.
On Feb. 2, 2015, the rancher discovered 100 feet of copper wire had been stripped from an irrigation pump.
Witnesses told investigators that Teal had been trespassing on a dirt bike.
Detectives found dried blood in a conduit tube and ordered a DNA test that matched Teal.
By then, he was serving a six-year prison sentence on other felony agricultural crimes and assault. Teal will serve the three-year sentence concurrently and was ordered to pay $12,875.90 as restitution.
