Two Visalia men were arrested Tuesday on weapons and drug offenses near a Visalia elementary school, Visalia police said.
Around 12:10 p.m., Mario Lugo, 30, and Gerardo Martinez, 18, were stopped in their vehicle near Hermosa Street and Vine Avenue, near Crowley Elementary School.
In the vehicle, officers found narcotics packaged for sale, Visalia police said. After searching one of the suspect’s probation address, officers found more narcotics and a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
Both men are Norteño gang members, police said. They were arrested on suspicion of narcotics sales, possession of a loaded firearm and narcotics sales within 1,000 feet of a school. They were booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility.
