A man fled from his flaming truck early Christmas morning after an allegedly drunk driver rear-ended him while driving 70 mph on Highway 99 in Visalia, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Juan Guerrero, 23, of Earlimart was driving a 2010 Chevrolet south on Highway 99 at 2:30 a.m. Friday behind a 35-year-old Madera man driving a 2010 Peterbilt hauling two trailers full of diesel fuel. Just north of Avenue 56, Guerrero crashed into the fuel tanker, which was going 52 mph.
After the crash, Guerrero’s car stopped along the shoulder of the highway, facing east. Meanwhile, the fuel tanker continued south and began to fishtail before bursting into flames from the impact.
The driver stopped the vehicle, which was loaded with two trailers full of diesel, and ran from the fire. Tulare County Fire Department later put out the fire.

Guerrero was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with a broken left leg. CHP said he showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
