A Fresno man was arrested after a fiery three-vehicle collision near Selma that killed two Parlier men Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which happened about 1:30 p.m. at Academy and Rose avenues.
Lewis Burris, 75, of Fresno was driving south on Academy Avenue in a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he drove through a stop sign at Rose Avenue and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 30-year-old Parlier man, the CHP said. There is no stop sign for traffic on Rose Avenue.
The Ford F-150 flipped and caught fire. The driver and a male passenger died.
Burris’ truck then collided with a Chevrolet Traverse driven by Mario Macias, 22, of Selma, who was stopped on northbound Academy Avenue. The Chevrolet was pushed into a vineyard.
Macias suffered minor injuries. Burris suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
