Two Fresno men were arrested on suspicion of weapon-related offenses Friday after police noticed the strong scent of marijuana and one man’s sagging pants during a traffic stop in southwest Fresno.
Fresno police Sgt. Paul Cervantes said Domenek Greenberry, 18, and Michael Daniels, 25, were arrested in the parking lot of a convenience store in the area of Elm and Grove avenues.
While patting down the men, police said they found a handgun on each of them. As police searched Daniels, they said his gun began to slide down his pants.
Cervantes said the men were likely armed because of their gang affiliation and a recent uptick in gang-related shootings.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP where tips can be made anonymously.
So far this year, Cervantes said Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium teams across the county have confiscated 127 guns.
