A 38-year-old Fresno man is behind bars for allegedly raping and molesting a relative.
Cha Yang, 38, turned himself into authorities on Wednesday morning and was booked into Fresno County Jail. He faces up to eight felony counts, including rape and other charges related to child molestation.
Yang turned himself into law enforcement after a Fresno Unified School District employee alerted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday that a girl in her early teens might be a victim of sexual abuse. The girl’s name, age and school was not provided.
After interviewing the girl, detectives went to a home to contact Yang, but he wasn’t there. Early Wednesday morning, Yang turned himself in at the Fresno County Jail.
The investigation shows the alleged sexual offenses against the girl continued for the past eight months.
Anyone with information about Yang is asked to call detective Jesse Gloria at (559) 600-8217 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
The Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and family members to educate their children about the dangers of sexual abuse.
“Speak to kids about good touching and bad touching,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Botti. “If you know someone who is the victim of a sex offense, report it immediately; you can remain anonymous.”
