Fresno County sheriff’s detectives have identified a man they would like to question regarding a deadly shooting early Thursday at a ranch west of Firebaugh.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find Francisco Zermeno, 25, who is a friend of the unnamed victim.
Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said Fresno County firefighters went to the 12000 block of North Russell Avenue about 2 a.m. after receiving a medical call. They found a man lying on the ground. The victim died at the scene.
Zermeno is described as 5 feet 8 inches, 180 pounds with brown eyes, short black hair and a goatee. Botti said Zermeno could be armed and the public should not approach him. His whereabouts are unknown, but Botti said he has family in Washington and Mexico and could be headed to either of those places.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and searched the ranch where the victim was found. Botti said the investigation is taking place on a large piece of property.
The homicide is the third this year in unincorporated Fresno County.
