Madera police arrested a convicted felon Saturday after finding ammunition and two emaciated dogs in his home.
Police, dispatched to a home regarding a trespasser, watched Miguel Vega, 39, throw a meth pipe as he tried to walk away. They determined he was on probation and had three felony warrants.
A follow-up probation search of his home uncovered ammunition and two dogs that had no food and were emaciated. Animal control took custody of the dogs.
Vega was booked into Madera County Jail for the warrants, probation violation and ammunition. Police said animal cruelty charges will be forwarded to the Madera District Attorney’s Office.
