A Fresno man who allegedly attacked his wife because she posted photos of herself on Instagram was booked on charges of domestic violence and making criminal threats, police reported.
The incident took place Wednesday afternoon in the 4400 block of West Avalon Avenue, Sgt. Ray Villalvazo said. The man was identified as Julio Benitiez, 37.
His wife told officers Benitiez became angry because she posted selfies on Instagram. He choked and punched her, causing injuries to her eyes, arms, legs and neck, police said. The victim fled the home with two children, ages 5 and 7, but left behind a 2-year-old child. The husband reportedly then left with the younger child.
The victim told officers her husband was under the influence of narcotics and had a firearm.
Three officers searched for Benitiez for several hours. With the help of family members, officers convinced him to return home, Villalvazo said. The 2-year-old was not hurt.
Officers found an air pistol in the home and determined Benitiez was under the influence of a stimulant, Villalvazo. He was booked into Fresno County Jail.
