Two suspected burglars are under arrest in Hanford after police opened fire when they tried to run down officers with a vehicle, police said Thursday.
One suspect, a woman, was grazed by a bullet. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released. No other injuries were reported.
About 5 a.m., police received a report of a prowler in the area of Greenfield Avenue and Williams Street and learned power to a home had been cut off.
Police saw a man leaving the area holding a gun. He drove toward officers at a high rate of speed, Police Chief Parker Sever said.
Never miss a local story.
Officers opened fire and the car sped off. Officers lost sight of the car, found it again and stopped it by crashing a squad car into it.
The suspects fled and were apprehended, police said. Their names will be released later Thursday.
Police found what they believe is the firearm — an Airsoft replica of a Smith & Wesson. They also found property in the car that they believe was stolen.
