A man is in critical condition after he was shot multiple times Friday afternoon at a northwest Fresno gasoline station, police said.
Officers were called to the Chevron at Shaw Avenue and Highway 99 just before 1 p.m. for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found a man in his 20s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man, who was having trouble breathing, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he immediately underwent surgery, said Lt. Joe Gomez.
The victim parked his truck near the gas pumps when the suspect and two female passengers in a compact sedan pulled in and slowed down.
Gomez said the pickup driver might have made flattering comments about the women. The driver of the sedan then pulled out a gun and fired several rounds at the pickup driver before he fled east on Shaw Avenue.

“There is no indication this shooting was the result of gang retaliation or gang business,” Gomez said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s wearing a white T-shirt and driving a newer model two-door Honda Civic or Accord that is pewter in color.
Anyone with information about the suspect or who can identify him for a possible cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
