Police arrested five gang members Sunday who allegedly possessed two guns, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine while driving through southwest Fresno with a 2-year-old boy.
Officers on patrol in the 800 block of East Lorena Avenue spotted a 19-year-old man who was on probation for a run offense after was arrested in June. Officers approached Dion Macklin’s vehicle and saw a large amount of cocaine and meth in the center console, as well as a digital scale and packaging material. The toddler was found seated in the back.
Police recovered a loaded .22 caliber revolver under the vehicle’s passenger seat and another loaded revolver behind the driver’s seat.
The father of the child, 20-year-old Deoutrie Dodson, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested for child endangerment, police said.

Four others, including three who were riding in the vehicle, were arrested and booked into Fresno County for various offenses. They were: Macklin, Patrick Ford, 18, Tahjee Bessard, 18, and Cinque Merriweather. 21. All belong to the same criminal gang, police said.
The child’s mother took custody of the boy following the arrests.
