An underage drunk driver who killed a 3-year-old girl in a hit-and-run collision in East Porterville was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in state prison, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said.
Adolfo Bulbuena, 18, of Porterville, pleaded guilty last month to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving drunk causing injury and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
He also admitted to injuring three others and fleeing a collision.
On Nov 9, 2014, Angeles Moreno, 3, was with her family getting treats from an ice cream truck parked in the family’s driveway when Balbuena came around the corner in a 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, veered through a fence and hit several people.
He backed up and drove away, the CHP said.
He drove to his home in Porterville before getting a ride from his brother to another home where officers tracked him down and arrested him.
He had a blood alcohol level of .13%.
The other victims — a 16-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy and a 44-year-old woman — were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
