The California Highway Patrol is searching for Reuben Perez, 36, of Fresno in connection with a fatal traffic collision Sunday at Highway 180 and Cedar Avenue.
The crash took place about 3:15 p.m. as Perez, driving a 2002 Kia Sedona, was eastbound on Highway 180 at a high rate of speed. He drove off the highway on the Cedar off-ramp, failed to negotiate the curve, went down an embankment and entered the Cedar on-ramp to eastbound 180.
The Kia struck the driver’s side of a 2001 Cadillac and both vehicles traveled southeast, where the Cadillac passenger side struck a tree. The passenger in the Cadillac, Mary Sandoval, 55, of Reedley, was fatally injured. The driver, Robert Sandoval, 43, of Reedley, sustained major injuries.
Perez fled through a field. The CHP is investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
