A 21-year-old Fresno man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested Wednesday night on charges of discharging a firearm in central Fresno, police reported.
Sgt. Paul Cervantes said officers went to the area of Jackson and Turner avenues shortly before 9:30 p.m. to investigate a report of gunshots. Officers contacted Marco Alvarez Parra and Christina Cruz and learned the pair had fired a 9mm handgun in a backyard.
Parra told officers he bought the weapon two weeks ago and wanted to show it to Cruz. After firing the gun, he reloaded to give Cruz the opportunity to shoot it.
Officers found the weapon in Parra’s vehicle, along with a loaded AR-15 rifle, which appeared to be jammed.

Parra and Cruz were booked into Fresno County Jail.
