Police arrested a man who they say led them on a chase through northeast Fresno in a stolen car on Tuesday.
Fresno police Sgt. Doug Goertzen said the chase began just after 1 a.m. when officers noticed a yellow 2000 Jeep Wrangler driving near the intersection of Fresno Street and Barstow Avenue.
The officers ran a check on the Jeep’s rear license plate, which was registered to another vehicle. When they attempted to stop the Jeep, it sped off.
The Jeep stopped at a mobile home park on the 100 block of East Sierra Avenue, and the driver tried to run from officers, Goertzen said. He was captured and identified as Peter Yepez, 45.

Yepez was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony evading arrest and auto theft.
