An overnight operation by Visalia police aimed at deterring driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs resulted in the arrest of Manuel Rodriguez-Ramirez, 31, for alleged DUI driving.
Visalia police stopped 75 vehicles between in the city between 9 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. Along with the arrest of Rodriguez-Ramirez, 44 traffic citations were issued for miscellaneous offenses, including seven for driving without a license and two for driving on a suspended license. Eight vehicles were towed during the detail.
The Visalia Police Department will be conducting more operations to deter DUI driving. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
