A 20-year-old Lemoore woman was arrested late Thursday after police said she fled a hit-and-run crash in Hanford while driving with two pit bulls.
Hanford police said Greta Montano was in a crash at 11th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Montano initially stopped, but when the other driver detected alcohol on her breath, Montano drove off in her van, police said.
The other driver tracked her and provided her location to police, who stopped Montano on Campus Street at Lacey Boulevard. She admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol, police said. After she failed the field sobriety test and was told she was going to jail, she agreed to help an animal control officer take custody of two large pit bulls in her van. But when she opened the door, both dogs jumped out and charged at officers, police said. They were eventually taken into the custody of the animal control officer.
Montano was booked at the Kings County Jail on suspicion of driving while impaired and hit-and-run.
