A 6-year-old Sanger boy was struck and killed by a vehicle west of Sanger on Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
About 6:25 p.m., a 58-year-old Fresno man was driving south on McCall Avenue, north of Annadale Avenue, in a 1982 Ford. The CHP said the boy, identified Thursday by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office as Joshua Perez, was in the center of the roadway on McCall Avenue and walked into the path of the Ford.
The driver applied his brakes but was unable to stop in time. The boy was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
The CHP did not have information about why the boy was in the roadway. Thursday, the sheriff’s said its coroner’s office had ruled the death accidental.
