A search for a baby along in a Yolo County slough on Wednesday ended with the discovery of the lifeless body of the infant by a patrol unit in a boat.
Yolo County deputies said the body of little Justice Rees was discovered at 9:50 a.m. after more than five hours of searching by a sheriff’s marine patrol unit. Deputies were being forced to cut through brush to get at the body of the infant.
Sheriff’s deputies and other searchers had scoured Ridge Cut slough in Knights Landing in an all-out search for the missing 3-week-old baby.
The infant has been missing at least since 5 p.m. Tuesday when the sheriff’s office received a panicked 911 call from a woman in the Knights Landing area.
Once deputies arrived in Knights Landing they determined that the woman was Samantha Green, reported missing from Woodland since Monday. Deputies also learned that she had an 20-day-old son.
