A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of armed burglary Thursday morning on Whitney Avenue, north of International Avenue in northeast Fresno, police Lt. Don Gross said.
Police found suspect Michael Johnson after responding to reports of a suspicious parked vehicle around 8:30 a.m. in the area of Whitney and Prestwick avenues. When police approached, Gross said Johnson tried to run away but was pushed to the ground and a loaded .40 caliber handgun fell out of his pants. Officers also recovered multiple items stolen over the past three weeks in the man’s vehicle, Gross said.
Some of the items have already been identified by their owners, Gross said. Detectives are working to identify more victims. Anyone who believes their items were stolen by Johnson can call police detective Ron Webb at (559) 621-6409 or detective Dan Godwin at (559) 621-6434.
