A 40-year-old man was detained by police Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly fired a shot into the ground to scare away a home appraiser who arrived at his foreclosed property in northeast Fresno, said Lt. Herman Silva.
Police surrounded the home on the 1600 block of East Niles Avenue after receiving the call around 2:30 p.m. The suspect, Ronald Suther of Clovis, initially identified as 35, allegedly fired the shot in the backyard as the man was working to appraise the property’s value.
The appraiser said Suther fired the shot from a rifle after telling him to leave.
Silva said officers found the rifle inside the suspect’s truck after the man allowed police to search the home and his vehicle. Suther was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of assault with a gun and terrorist threats.
