Brianna Ramirez, a 16-year-old Parlier girl who was shot in the eye Thursday night near her home, remained in critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center as of Saturday evening, a hospital official said.
Fresno County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting, which took place about 10 p.m. in the 400 block of Fett Street.
Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said Brianna, a 10th grader at Sanger High School, was in a car with her mother and approaching their home when several rounds were fired and a bullet went through a car window and struck Brianna.
Botti said it does not appear Brianna was targeted. He said it wasn’t known if the shooting was gang-related.
