A 68-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday morning after she tried to sneak a loaded handgun and box cutter into Fresno County Superior Court, said Tony Botti, spokesman for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Donna Eddington of Fresno was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed gun, carrying a weapon in public and two counts of having a weapon in a state building.
The weapons were discovered by deputies who scanned her purse in an X-ray machine at the downtown Fresno courthouse, located at 1130 O St.
Botti said Eddington told deputies she was carrying the weapons because she was afraid of her neighbor and was at the courthouse to request a restraining order.
Never miss a local story.
Weapons are prohibited at all court locations. Botti said numerous signs are posted in front of the buildings that clearly state which items are illegal to carry inside.
