A man was arrested Sunday after he fired several shots into the air in the middle of the Millbrook Avenue and Floradora Street intersection in central Fresno, police said.
A Fresno police spokesman said the man, who was believed to be mentally unstable, surrendered peacefully after police blocked off the shooting area and surrounded his home near Lamona and Millbrook avenues. No people or property were struck by gunfire during the incident, which was first reported just before 4 p.m.
After searching the home, police recovered the 9 mm handgun believed to have been used during the incident. Police also located ammunition from other weapons, which prompted officers to keep the area blocked off and continue their search into the early evening.
