Police said a drunk driver in Hanford was arrested Friday after she was seen jumping a curb and colliding with a street sign on the corner of West Davis Street and South Richmond Avenue.
Aretha Franklin, 47, was driving a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino when she tried to make a left turn onto northbound Richmond Avenue and misjudged her turn, causing her vehicle to jump the curb of Davis Street and Richmond Avenue before striking a stop sign, police said.
Police found Franklin as she was walking away from her vehicle. She told officers, “I’m drunk and hit the sign.”
Franklin was arrested for driving while intoxicated and being involved in a noninjury accident, police said.
