Police arrested a man who they say raped and struck a 16-year-old girl with a tire iron several times in Hanford.
Hanford police Sgt. Justin Vallin said that Eddie Perez, 19, of Avenal, tied up the girl and beat her over five days.
Police found the girl tied up in a vehicle Friday at the 600 block of East Malone Street.
After Perez left the girl tied in a car, she was unable to climb out because of injuries to her legs, but she screamed for help as people walked by, police said.

The girl was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she has undergone surgery, police said. Vallin said the girl was still in the hospital and in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
Vallin said police arrested Perez in an apartment in the 400 block of East Cameron Street at 8:40 p.m. Saturday. Perez was booked into Kings County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, torture, kidnapping, rape by force and false imprisonment. He is being held in lieu of $2.45 million bail.
