Two Fresno men were indicted in federal court Thursday for allegedly being felons in possession of guns, U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner said.
Wagner said Alan Anthonee Amey, 23, was arrested after police found a loaded handgun during a probation search at his home. Amey is prohibited from having a gun due to felony convictions in 2010 and 2011.
In a separate case, police arrested Ernie Michael Rodriguez, 39, after a routine traffic stop led to the recovery of a loaded handgun, Wagner said. Rodriguez cannot have a gun after multiple prior felony convictions.
If convicted, both men face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
The cases are part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods federal initiative, which brings together local, state and federal law enforcement to battle gun and gang violence.
