Clovis police solved a carjacking case from last month and returned the vehicle to its rightful owners.
A couple visiting relatives near 9th Street and Minnewawa Avenue on Oct. 19 was carjacked as they exited their Lincoln. The suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Uriel Contreras, pulled out a pellet gun, punched the man and took off in the car. The victim was not seriously hurt.
Clovis detectives found the car 10 days later parked at West Shaw and Peach avenues. Investigators found evidence that tied the Contreras to an address at 9th Street and Bulldog Lane in Fresno. Contreras was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of carjacking.
Also booked into jail was 23-year-old Jonathon Velasco, who was wanted for possession of a stolen vehicle.
