Police at California State University Fresno arrested a man carrying a knife and methamphetamine late Monday night after two women students alerted officers that they were being followed.
Armando Rodriguez, 44, was booked into Fresno County Jail on drug and weapons charges, according to Amy Luna, emergency operations manager for the school. Luna said the students were south of the Henry Madden Library about 11:30 p.m. when they made contact with officers and told them about the suspect. Officers recovered a 4-inch, fixed-blade knife and the drugs. Rodriguez, who does not attend the university, also had a student identification card, and was booked for possessing that item as well.
“We were able to put this guy in jail without anyone being a victim of a crime, so that’s the good news.”
