Two Porterville men are in jail after several females alleged they were sexually molested by the men, police said Friday.
Harvey Henson, 38, and Victor Vargas, 34, were both booked into the Tulare County Jail after they were arrested within an hour of each other on Sept. 1.
Henson faces 20 counts of child molestation with a special allegation of multiple victims against him. Vargas faces three counts of child molestation, according to a news release from the Porterville police department.
The police said a 15-year-old girl contacted them on Aug. 9 to report possible lewd acts involving Henson. Police said the victim alleged Henson molested her twice at a home in Porterville, in 2016 and in 2017.
After detectives investigated, two more women alleged Henson, and later Vargas, molested them when they were minors.
One reported she was allegedly molested by Henson in 2003 at a home in Lindsay and again in Porterville when she was 14 years old. The same woman alleges a brief sexual encounter with Vargas reportedly occurred at Henson’s home in Porterville when she was 15.
The second woman reported to police she had a brief sexual relationship with Vargas in 2006 when she was 13. That later evolved into a sexual relationship with Henson, police said. Police said some of the alleged sexual encounters occurred at a home in Fresno.
Vargas was arrested at his Porterville home and is being held in jail in lieu of $300,000 bail. Henson was arrested during a traffic stop in Porterville and is being held in jail in lieu of a $3 million bail. Anyone who has information on this case is asked to call Detective Sgt. Brian Nix at 559-782-7421.
