Two Murder Squad gang members were arrested Friday at a southeast Fresno apartment complex on weapons and domestic violence charges, police said.
At 8:17 p.m., officers went to an apartment at 3860 E. Lane Ave. after they received information about a wanted domestic violence suspect’s location.
When officers got to the scene, they contacted a resident of the apartment at the front door and saw the suspect, Mister Brooks, 25, sitting in the living room. Police said the resident closed the door before the officers could enter the apartment.
Police said when the front door opened again, Deonte Cooke, 22, a Murder Squad gang member, walked out wearing a bulky jacket, which police thought was suspicious since the temperature was in the low 90s. Police found a .22 caliber rifle under the jacket.
Cooke was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on weapons charges and gang enhancements.
Brooks later surrendered after a short standoff and was booked into the Fresno County Jail for domestic violence-related charges.
